Dear GhanaWeb reader,
As tensions rise across the country over alarming deaths attributed to the coronavirus pandemic, the presidency is also tensed up as a significant number of people are lobbying to be given cabinet positions and jobs in Akufo-Addo’s government.
This past week has seen a rise in coronavirus cases which Akufo-Addo has attributed to parties, weddings, end of year office programmes, family get-togethers and funerals. This proclamation has incensed some Ghanaians who recall major political party activities that were allowed to be held despite violating coronavirus protocols. These activities were witnessed from the voter registration exercise right down to the declaration of results when the winners had parties and losers demonstrated en masse.
With the knowledge of the depth of infection, the opening of schools is unsustainable and needs to be managed properly. Like the intense lobbying for jobs at the presidency with pending heartbreaks and breakthroughs, Ghanaians deserve the best of care and solutions to handle the coronavirus even if it will result in heartbreaks for some (businesses) or breakthroughs for others (Ghanaian lives).
Brace yourself for weeks of court hearings on the election petition filed by former President John Mahama over the results of the December 2020 election which he lost to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
