Dear GhanaWeb reader,
We are in exciting times in our country as the fate of our political dispensation lies in the decision of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to take their claims of vote padding to court or not.
It’s only a few days to the deadline of filing for election dispute arbitration yet the NDC party has not decided on initiating legal action. They have, however, called on members of the diplomatic corps to express grievances while their supporters hold demonstrations to express displeasure with the Electoral Commission which has been accused of perpetrating electoral fraud.
While we wait, coronavirus is not waiting on us as Ghana recorded 13 more deaths despite a marginal reduction in the number of active cases, low hospitalization rates and virtually empty treatment centres.
Two journalists working for GhanaWeb were mobbed by supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) while performing their duty at the party headquarters after the declaration of results. They escaped by the skin of their teeth after they were beaten and manhandled, an action that left them traumatized. GhanaWeb has not heard from the NDC nor the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) regarding the attack. However, the media entity has decided to withdraw from covering NDC events until the party assures us of the safety of our journalists.
